Guy BaldwinGuy Baldwin
Author & Psychotherapist

Los Angeles’ pioneering psychotherapist, author and activist, Guy Baldwin, has worked clinically with erotically uncommon clients for the last 30 years. He has also traveled the U.S. and Canada extensively to present a wide array of workshops and seminars to BDSM audiences and health care professionals alike.

Baldwin has delivered keynote addresses for the International Leather Leadership Conference, the International Masters and slaves Weekend, the Living in Leather convention of the National Leather Association, South Plains Leatherfest, the Austin Bash, and the Dominion Gathering, to name only a few. Although the list of his published work is a long one, he is perhaps best known for his essays in Drummer magazine, many of which can be found in his 1993 book, Ties That Bind. His most recent book, SlaveCraft, now in its fourth printing, has offered us a view into the inner dynamics of erotic servitude that has been compelling and controversial.

In 1989, judges chose Guy to serve as the second Mr. National Leather Association, and the 11th International Mr. Leather, concurrently, the only person ever to do so. Baldwin was awarded both the Pantheon and Dominion Lifetime Achievement Awards. In 2004, the Society of Janus established its Hall Of Fame – Baldwin was among the first inductees. He received the first Master/slave Heritage Award at the Master/slave Conference 2009.

In 2000, the Leather Archives and Museum identified the twenty people whose service to the Leather Community has been the most significant in the 20th Century and named each of them, Centurion – Guy Baldwin, among them.

Viola JohnsonViola Johnson
Librarian and Historian

Viola Johnson is a leatherwoman, vampire and author who has been active in the leather BDSM scene for over three decades. A mentor and confidante to many in the fetish world, she has a special fondness for the ‘boys’ of our community, and those who choose to serve as slaves and submissives. Viola is the wife of Jill Carter, International Ms Leather 1996, and the owned property of Mistress Victoria Gayton.

Viola had the distinction of winning the "Lifetime Achievement Award" from Pantheon of Leather and The National Leather Association, making her the only person to receive both awards in the same year. In August of 2007 she was honored with the first Lifetime Achievement Award given by Black Beat. Viola is also the recipient of the Pantheon of Leather "Woman of the Year" award The Jack Stice Award and the Slave Heart Award. Viola is the author of two books, Dhampir and To Love, To Obey, To Serve. Currently, she is working on her third book, a follow up to To Love, To Obey, To Serve.

Master Skip ChaseyMaster Skip Chasey
Butchmanns, Inc.

Skip Chasey, a/k/a Master Skip, heads a family of spiritually grounded leatherfolk in the City of Angels, where he is a practicing spiritual director and certified Grief Recovery™ counselor and also earns a living as a missionary among the savages of Hollywood. As an out and proud leatherman, Master Skip addressed a crowd of nearly one million people at the Millennium March on Washington, and since then he has given the keynote address and has presented over 150 programs on the spiritual dynamics of SM and D/s relationships at noteworthy leather events throughout the US and Canada.

From 2001-2007 Master Skip was a core instructor for the Butchmanns Experience, a periodic weekend retreat that offers opportunities for profound personal growth to leathermen and women of all sexual orientations and identities, and from 2004 -2009 he was a co-producer of Southwest Leather Conference, “The Leather Family Gathering of Heart and Spirit.” Additionally, Master Skip is a co-founder of People of Leather Among You (“PLAY”), a social and educational group for Southern California men and women interested in the integration of spirituality and leather/fetish sexuality that met monthly from May, 2002 through December, 2009. slave Rickslave Rick
Psychotherapist

slave Rick recently retired from a 30- year career with the Federal government and expanded his practice as a licensed psychotherapist within the BDSM community (KinkTherapistLosAngeles.com). In addition to assisting his clients in achieving more satisfying lives, he seeks to raise consciousness within the therapeutic community by depathologizing BDSM in order that “vanilla” psychotherapists might more effectively work with their own kinky clients.

Aside from his work as a therapist, slave Rick is a part-time college instructor, a massage therapist and a retired Science of Mind practitioner. he has presented programs on the spiritual dynamics of SM and D/s relationships at dozens of conferences and leather events throughout North America, and earlier this year delivered the endnote address at Southwest Leather Conference.

In 2008 slave Rick was honored to receive both the Southwest Leather Conference “Leatherman’s Heart Award” and the “slave Heart Award” from the Master/slave Conference. More recently, he was proud to participate as one of the subjects of “Ask the Man Who Owns Him”, a book on gay male M/s relationships by david stein.

First and foremost, however, he is by grace in service to his beloved Master.

slave Carolineslave Caroline
Clinical Psychologist

slave Caroline has been “kinky” since her earliest memory, and in one form of Ds or Ms relationship since her late teens, having served a number of Masters of different genders and sexual orientations. Along with a lifetime interest in spirituality, theology and philosophy, which has included twenty years of practice in meditation, her journey in slavery has been her central path to the sacred.

In recent years, through the grace of her Guru, Sai Baba, she has been able to integrate her spiritual practices with her slavery and her business through a deeper appreciation of love, devotion, surrender and service and power exchange. She is a registered clinical psychologist, business woman, consultant, a self-proclaimed Jungian, corporate priestess, a spiritual seeker/teacher as well as a deep lifestyle slave.

Relocated to Southern California from Australia in October 2008 when she enrolled in a PhD in Depth Psychology, her dissertation topic is in the area of Master/slave dynamics. She aims to serve the collective by bringing light and understanding to dispel the prejudices and stereotypes of Mastery and slavery held by the therapeutic, medical and legal professions.

Since attending her first Master/slave Conference in DC in 2004, she has been an active member of the Master/slave community in the USA. In the kink community she has been invited to give workshops and keynote addresses on various aspects of Master/slave and spirituality at Southwest Leather Conference, Together In Leather, P.L.A.Y., the Master/slave Conference, the Leather Leadership Conference and Great Lakes Leather Alliance. Outside the Kink community she is active in writing and educating the academic and psychotherapeutic communities about Mastery and slavery.

slave david stein
Author

Born in Pittsburgh in 1948, david stein grew up in Western Pennsylvania, where he started tying himself up at age 5. He graduated high school three years early and went off to study philosophy at NYU in 1965 and later at Northwestern University, which awarded him a Master’s degree — little did they know!

When the academic job market collapsed in the early 1970s, he fell into publishing and in 1977 landed back in New York City, where he got a job as a magazine editor and came out in the S/m-leather scene. He’s lived in New York ever since except for a year in San Francisco to produce two books, Ask the Man Who Owns Him: The real lives of Gay Masters and slaves and a collection of his leathersex stories, Boots, Bondage, and Beatings (both Perfectbound Press, summer 2009).

In 1980 david co-founded Gay Male S/M Activists (GMSMA), once the world’s largest gay s/m organization, and served it in many capacities, from president to newsletter editor and program chairman, for the next 11 years. It was for the GMSMA statement of purpose, back in 1983, that david coined the phrase “safe, sane, and consensual S/m,” now a ubiquitous catch phrase he has mixed feelings about. Retired from GMSMA, in 1999 he co-founded New York City’s gay chapter of Masters And slaves Together (MAsT), from which he is also now retired.

For six years he wrote the “Bond+Aid” safety column for Bound & Gagged magazine, and in 1996 he guest-edited issue #14 of International Leatherman magazine, devoted entirely to real-world gay Masters and slaves. Over the years, his BDSM fiction and nonfiction have appeared in Drummer, DungeonMaster, International Leatherman, Mach, Power Play, and other periodicals as well as the anthologies Leatherfolk edited by Mark Thompson (Alyson), SM Classics edited by Susan Wright (Masquerade), Horsemen: Leathersex Short Fiction edited by Joseph W. Bean (Leyland), Men on the Edge edited by Christopher Pierce (StarBooks), and the “novelology” The Academy: Tales of the Marketplace by Laura Antoniou (Mystic Rose). Some of his writing is available online at boybear.us as is a fuller biographical essay.

slave david has presented at numerous leather and S/m events, including the International Master/slave Weekend in Atlanta in 1999 and several times at the Master/slave Conference in DC. In 2006 he was the keynote speaker at the South Plains Leatherfest in Dallas. During MsC 2009, slave david received the first Sir Steve Community Service Award.

Having been involved in three Master/slave partnerships of various lengths, slave david is currently unowned but under the protection and long-distance supervision of Master Steve, the Founder and longtime Director of Butchmanns (butchmanns-experience.org), the parent organization of MAsT: International.

Master Alexander and slave KitMaster Alexander and slave Kit
International Master/slave 1993

Master Alexander and slave Kit have been in a thriving and fully committed Master/slave relationship for over 40 years. Perhaps one of the reasons that it has lasted so long is because they were pledged to each other at birth by their families. They have been involved in the Leather/SM scene since 1973.

In 1993, they entered their first competition, the International Master and slave Contest in Orlando, Florida, and won. During their title reign, they traveled extensively and raised funds for several charities.

They were involved with the National Leather Association for several years and have served as judges for various leather competitions. They have presented seminars, classes and workshops on different aspects of the Master/slave lifestyle.

Mistress KhikiMistress Khiki
International Master 1999

When she was 15, Mistress Khiki found a copy of Bob Damron’s Address Book in a local gay bar that happened to be owned by a friend’s mom. She quickly assigned herself the task of learning the "hanky code."  About the same time she discovered Drummer Magazine, and that was, as they say “all she wrote,” she was hooked. She was already out as a dyke, so her brain easily jumped to “somewhere there are women to do those naughty things with me.” So she flagged, everywhere.

Mistress Khiki traveled a lot with her mother and used the "address book" to try finding and gaining entry to those specially coded bars and clubs that were “leather and SM.” For several years, she wasn’t very successful. Then she found the Atlanta Eagle and a whole new chapter of her life began.

Her journey in the Leather community was aided almost entirely by gay men (and interestingly, her mom as well) and more specifically by Drummer boys. Yep, most of her mentoring was done by bottoms and boys. She considers herself incredibly lucky because they taught her a million and one lessons about being a Top, and even more about being a Master. She was taught how to behave and follow what she was told were "Old Guard" protocols for doing things; then the protocols themselves became a fetish for her, which probably explains why she loves “Old Guard” (ask her about that) and “Traditional Leather” so much.

Mistress Khiki was the first Ms. Atlanta Eagle, ’95-’96 (really, that’s what the sash says), Ms. Georgia Leather 1996, 1st Runner Up American Leather Woman 1997, recipient of a 2002 Jack Stice Community Service Award, International Master 1999, Producer, Mid-Atlantic Olympus Leather, and Chairperson of the Leather Heart Foundation (leatherheart.org).

Master JimMaster Jim
International Master 2001
South Plains Leatherfest

Master Jim, International Master 2001, is a leatherman who has been involved in the SM/Leather community for almost 20 years. During that time, he has presented seminars and weekend programs on Master/slave relationships across the U.S. and Canada. Master Jim is one of the owners of South Plains Leatherfest & International Master/slave Weekend (southplainsleatherfest.com) held in Dallas each year and is a co-owner of the International Master/slave title contest held at South Plains.

Although Master Jim is well versed in many SM tools and techniques, he is most interested in the dynamics of Master/slave relationships. For Master Jim, the psychological, emotional, and mental elements are the core and the most fascinating part of these relationships.

Master Jim identifies sexually as a gay leatherman; however, he is comfortable being served by persons of any gender or sexual orientation. Currently, he is the owner of a biological female slave, slave marsha, who has been in service to him for over 13 years. Master Jim, slave marsha, and slave marsha’s mate, Cougar, live together as a leather family. Also in service to Master Jim is celeste, a slave, who is his “woman in service. “

Master Jim and slave marsha write on Master/slave relationships at their web journal, mjandsm.livejournal.com. When he is not teaching on M/s relationships, Master Jim can often be found riding his 2003 Harley Davidson Road King.

slave marsha, International slave 2001, has been involved in SM for more than 15 years. She has been in service to Master Jim of Dallas for over 13 years as his slave, and prior to that, another 1½ years as his “woman in service.” slave marsha frequently assists Master Jim in presenting seminars on Master/slave relationships across the U.S. and Canada. Among other projects, slave marsha is a co-owner of South Plains Leatherfest & International Master/slave Weekend (southplainsleatherfest.com) in Dallas, and is one of the co-owners of the International Master/slave title contest.

slave marsha has long viewed slavery as a “calling.” Those who are called to slavery do not respond to the call because they can do nothing else – they respond because for them, nothing else will do. For slave marsha, slavery offers a way of life in which she can best use her strength, talents, and intelligence in service to another.

slave marsha identifies sexually as a Femme leatherdyke, however, her desire to serve transcends sexual orientation, making it possible for her to happily serve Master Jim, a gay leatherman. As a Femme leatherdyke, slave marsha is grateful that Master Jim allows her to have a romantic partnership relationship with Cougar, a Butch leatherdyke. In July 2006, slave marsha and Cougar were united as life mates in a Union Ceremony officiated by Master Jim. Since early 2007, Master Jim, slave marsha and Cougar have lived together as a leather family.
slave marsha writes on Master/slave relationships at Master Jim’s web journal, mjandsm.livejournal.com. One of slave marsha’s favorite forms of service is riding her 2005 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe with Master Jim, while singing “Born to be Wild.”

In 2000, she moved to Columbia, SC and became one of the core members of T3WD. She began her journey as a submissive, starting the submissive sig meetings for T3WD. She later became the Secretary and then moved on to the Events Coordinator. During this time she went under contract with an Old School Master to be trained as a high protocol slave.
