The Master/slave Conference 2010 brought together a record 465 individuals who gathered at a hotel in the nation's capital to celebrate the Master/slave dynamic. The seventh annual MsC was held over Labor Day Weekend, September 3-6 at the lovely Crowne Plaza Silver Spring Hotel.
The heavily educational event presented a record of 60 classes and 10 roundtables by top presenters in the Master/slave community including Guy Baldwin, Master Skip Chasey, Master David Walker, slave Caroline, slave david stein, slave justin, Lady Catherine Gross, Patrick Mulcahey, Master Jim and slave marsha, Mistress Khiki, Master Z, Sir Stephen and slave catherine, Mistress Suzan and slave ziggy, Master Taíno, Master David Cook, Lady Lynette and slave llamb, among many others.
MsC, already considered the largest gathering of Masters and slaves, is produced by MTTA, Inc., a non-profit educational organization for the advancement of the Master/slave dynamic. The organization which also runs the MTTA Academy and a new Mentor Service just unveiled a new website: www.mtta-programs.org.
The Keynote Speech was delivered by slave Caroline from Los Angeles during the Opening Ceremony. The text of the speech can be found in the website of the event: www.masterslaveconference.org.
Saturday night’s program, "Our Traditions Live," included the participation of Vi Johnson, director of the Carter-Johnson Leather Library and Rick Storer, Executive Director of the Leather Archives & Museum. Vi Johnson unveiled the new name and logo of the Carter-Johnson Leather Library which has called MsC home since 2006. More than $4,000 were collected that night for the LA&M.
The program included a speech by Master Alexander Von Habsburg, International Master 1993, and the second person to hold that title. The program also included a posthumous capping ceremony for Master Jack McGeorge, who passed away in 2009.
The Awards Ceremony included the Guy Baldwin Master/slave Heritage Award granted to Master Steve and the Butchmanns Family, the Master Jack McGeorge Excellence in Education Award granted to Sir Stephen from New Jersey, the Master and slave Heart Awards granted to Master Alexander and slave kit, the Sir Steve Community Service Award granted to Master J, current president of Brother Help Thyself, and the slave bill Volunteer Award granted to Ellen and Steve, the Stage Manager and A/V Director for MsC.
Northeast Master/slave Contest 2010
Master Don and slave orja, from Pennsylvania, were selected as the new Northeast Master/slave 2010 during the Master/slave Conference 2010. They will represent the Northeast region at the International Master/slave Contest held at South Plains Leather Fest in February.
Master Don and slave orja have maintained a Master/slave relationship for 14 years and are active members of MAsT Baltimore and BESS.
The panel of judges included Master Alex Keppeler (Head Judge), Master Alexander Von Habsburg (International Master 1993), Lolita Wolf (TES), Master Steve and slave tami (Northeast Master/slave 2009), slave Rick (Los Angeles) and slave justin (Maryland).
